Jewellery organising

For a while a great deal of irritation has been launched every morning I wanted to choose a jewellery for my outfit. I ended up picking those laying on top and never using earrings because they are always scattered.
So this is a project that has been in progress for a long while. The towel holder was found at a flea market without a rod and no paint. The only thing I did was to paint it and carve a twig fitting the holes for the rod.
The bracelet stands are all handmade by myself. The bottom is a part of a mug holder. With glue, a drill and a screwdriver it was more easier than it look like. The padding under the fabric is glued on with hot glue.
I also made a little drawer from three Glossy boxes and their lids to store more jewellery. This is a great tutorial if you have those boxes (or three of another kind).
The necklace bust is made of a lamp foot and a bust made of plaster strips.
The little pink box on the right is a upcycled box from an electronics supplyer. It is wrapped in wallpaper and decorated with old clock gears and a small mounting.
I will add boxes and a earring holder later.

Our town has changed and got a sudden world wide focus due to the World championships in skiing. It's the first time I'm visiting an event like this as I'm not very interested in watching sports. But wow, it was amazing so many happy people and all the yelling and waving flags. The photo below only shows a half of the audience.
Lots of people stood in the snow along the track as well.

It's a big event around the championship as well with lots of sponsors showing their products. SAAB showed their warplane Gripen and Alfons tried the cockpit of it,(looks claustrophobic in my opinion).

With sturdy boots and skirts in layers you don't have to freeze.

Interior details for a Lolita

Many things at IKEA are soo boring, that so called Scandinavian style can be very dull with too many straight corners. But Ikea do have some few items that are must have's as well.
Take a look at the childrens department next time, they have a new line for young girls wich I think is lovely and irresistable. The bed linen called Silkig (silky) have a unicorn and bouncing bunnies print along with swirls and flower ornaments. The flipside of the duvet cover is pink. They also have small matching cusions with a unicorn print. I beleive those who love Lolita style also would love these.
The glass on the bed was only 1 €. I bought eight glasses and these will be our new everyday glasses. Even if they are a bit chunky I think they will add a little Victorianescue feel to our everyday dinners.
You know I'm fond of owles. These cute ones were bought at a store called Rusta for 10€. Johan saw them on his Instagram feed and I hurried to buy them. They must have been popular because they ran out immediately.

I'm about to finish my essay and prepare my presentation for next weeks visit at the University. I'm looking forward to going there and see my friend C and my awesome study mates. One was published in a science newspaper in an article about 3-d printed organs. Read it here.

The Ghastlies part two

I bought a couple of fabrics on etsy of the pattern The Ghastlies. As I fell in love with these fabrics I had to buy a mix of them. The Ghastlies gallery was presented in this post.
Rest of the fabrics have been transformed to cusions

If you click on the pictures you can see the lovely details of the prints.
The bed cover and other cusions is from Zara Home.

Living with  spontaneous children can be challenging, every day is a surprise and a new situation to handle. The eldest came home and said that he now had enough money to buy a budgie. He then ran upstairs to his room and checked the internet for a cage. Then he made the phonecall to the seller and settled an appointment the next day. So suddenly we have two budgies in our family.

They are only 10 weeks and a little shy. I'm not sure about the gender of one of them so Oskar gave that bird a girl/boy name Kim. As we don't  know if it's a he(=han) or she(=hon) we call Kim the in new swedish word in between; "hen". That is typical swedish, inventing new words in the vocabulary.

Venezian chrystal crown

In the beginning of this year, I bought a chrystal crown at a flea market. Now I have fixed it and hunged in the bedroom. I was in a hurry to take a picture so I haven't even put the wire in the socket (the wire that hangs from the lamp). I payed 8 $ for it.

This is how it looked when I came home with it. A complete misery. You could count the chrystals on one hand. It looked like someone had thrown it down a staircase or something. I have always wanted a crystal crown but never wanted to pay that much money. I had walked by this two times before I decided to ask for the price. I'm not very fond of pink and this lamp is quite new (guessing from the 80's) and looks kitchy, but it turned ot nice. I'm lucky to have a huge stash of chandelier chrystals and have spent hours by adding them. I guess it costed me 25$ after renovating.

I planned to be outside in the garden to do some needed work, but the rain is pouring down and the cold winds are only a five degrees over freezing point. This is how my window sills looks right now. Lots of plants reaching for the light. On the two trays below grows beans, kidney beans and haricot verts (they need a soil temperature above 12 degrees to grow).

Yes more beans, I'm crazy about them. These are borlotto beans in the front.  In the back I have my pumpkins, chili and russian tomatoes. The tomatoes looks tiny but when I put them in horse manure they will grow fast.

Ah, Johan came home with a itty bitty Bosch screwdriver and light bulbs for the lamp. So here is it, in it's new glory.

Keep on having a great weekend! / Ha en fortsatt fin helg!

Magazine holders

So completely unnecessary to buy magazine holders when I already had a couple. I had plain white magazine holders with silver corners, but I think these off white with nice card holders in a brownis metal are nicer.

I also bought two boxes. One of them is large enough to store my 19 century newspapers and fashion magazines in, no more dust on them!

A cheap chair cover

When we woke up today it was so freezing cold. -25 degrees.  Even though it was so cold, we sticked our noses outside to go to the neighbour town to a thrift store. I noticed that they had raised the prices, and I think it's bad. I mean isn't it ridicilous when you go to a second hand store and find things that cost more than they did when they were new? Anyway I came home with a lot of stuff that I will picture tomorrow for you. I was happy to see some fun alternative girls in the thrift store as well, one with a Robert Smith do and one with my little pony hair, and two elder goths, who checked me out (I'm not alone!).

We also made a visit at a bath store. I picked some catalouges that I've glanced a little in and choose nice items with fair prices (but man that is expensive). After that we spontaneously bought a heat exchanger for our garage, the air is so humid in it and the heating system we are using now is so expensive.

It seems like this post is about moaning about how expensive everything is, right? Well I'm not greedy, just economical. So I can show you how economical I am by showing you a cheap chair cover I made. I have 4 chairs like these that I got from my grandmother long ago. Unfortunately she thought the chairs had become a bit wiggly so someone (my father) beated some nails in them, I will fix that later. I thought of painting them but changed my mind. I like the dark brown colour. Anyway the covers are made of old bed linen. You can always find cheap linen in thrift stores and wash them well and bleach them, and there you got a good cotton fabric for nothing, that will last forever. It was more time consuming to make those, but not so difficult. Oh I think I will make a post about the sewing machine I use it's a great one from the 60's.

Little trolls

In my redecorating and cleaning project for the bedroom, I chose an old childhood memory to reuse. This lamp comes from my grandparents but I have owned it since I was a child. I love it because of three ugly trolls holding the body of the lamp up. Unfortunately I was young and foolish and tried to polished it, the silver coat was partly removed an the brass shines now through.

When I was a little girl the lampshade had a lovely lilac cover that over the years went to rags, and the lamp was put away. Last week I pulled the rags of and recovered the shade with white cotton and hid the stiches behind thin lace trim. Something less vain than an old grocery box to use as a bedside table is hard to find , but I hope that I will stumble upon one in a thrift store some day.

The bedroom consists of more than our bed and my workspace. There are for example 3 book shelves, pimped Ikea's Billy. I removed the training bike from this room and placed a 3 three armed floor lamp from the 50's in the corner. The lamp's function is more like decorative light than practical. The armchair is brought to the home from Johans mom and is covered with an antique grainsack I bought on etsy. This is how it gets when I furnishing a room, lots of given and pimped stuff and mixed styles, I'm just trying to do the best of what I already have. If you look a little bit closer you can see a few musical instruments as well; an acoustic guitar and a synthesizer, Johan is the musician in the family. I only have a violin that is hiding in the other corner of the picture.

In the other corner we have Johans office and that will not be shown here, it's just too much cables. Not that I'm aspire on being an interior blog, my home isn't that good looking. So I end this post by showing you a beautiful view from our surroundings.

Ha en fin vecka!
Wishing you a pleasant week!

Saturday I skipped the lovely weather to be inside and clean our bedroom thoroughly. It took almost the whole day but I have done a lot of things including washing lampshades and changed some electricity in one. On my drawer I put som childhood related things for example me and my fathers teddybears.

Under the glass bell is my sandals I used as little. Except from a box with old cloths, this is almost everything that I have left.

The geraniums got new soil in their pots and some cutting. This silver ball stood hidden in a corner and got a place in the window.

This is my little private office. It's necessary to be organized when the space is small.
The little drawer I found at the work, the table is a bargain at a fleamarket, the chair is from my grandmother. Only the piedestal is expensive, right now I have trouble with were I'm going to place it.

Burning love

I had 3 large buckets with chiliplants dotted with those red fruits. I had to to something with them and since I'm no heavy user of chili I made a heart shaped wreath of them. Doesn't it the shape of the wreath suitable for the chili? Red and hot and if you don't be careful you can get tears in your eyes. Now it's hanging on my kitchen wall to dry.

I washed my lampshades and needed a new temporary. I found an old 50-s shade I've bought from a friend couple of years ago. I think it fits very nice to the new foot. I wish I had bought more of them because she had a big box filled with lampshades in those crazy 50's patterns (this one was the modest of them).
Keep on enjoying your weekend and beautiful autumn. I sincerely hope I will show you pictures of my kitchen next.
