Red & black week, day 2: 40's outfit

For day 2 in Sophistique Noir's annual theme I would like to show you an outfit I used for a friends wedding in 40's style. I weared a black and red (nude and white) polka dotted A-line cut tie dress. It looks a bit straight in the picture but with my hips and a petticoat under it turned out perfect. I made a hat from a vintage pattern and made victory rolls in my hair. The wedges are very old, real 40's wedges.
Here's a detail of the dress. It's a wrap dress that ties with a long ribbon. The dress is actually new but combined with different accessoaries it can give a vintage look.

The hat was really weird. I bought the pattern because of the lovely picture. When I started cutting and sewing I was so puzzled by wich end was up. Somehow I guess I figured it out. It has a huge bow and different shaped ruffles. It looked nice with a 40's hairdo.

These wedges are my darling shoes (oh I have a lot of darlings). I had looked and poked at them in a vintage store and never beleived I could fit my feet in theese. But when I tried them on they was perfect.

I know it's particularly not a goth outfit, but we all do love vintage classical outfits, don't we? The reason I'm not dressed in it in the picture is the fact that the dress is way too small for me, right now.

It's a little sad that I can't show you pictures from the wedding. I left all my photos when I moved. I hope I can get a copy of them someday.

  1. Väldigt snygg outfit!

Jag tror att många av oss som gillar Goth-stilen, även gillar det som drar mot Rockabilly, det gör definitivt jag iallafall..!

  3. Love that dress! I'm a sucker for polka dots. I wish I had a dress form like that. It's a great way to see how an outfit looks and I could use it when tailoring my clothes.
