Furious!!

I'm so angry my head is exploding. Things that are unfair makes me really furious. One thing I have been proud of about my country Sweden is that the system is supposed to be fair. The fairness for all, is sustained by taxes. Yes we pay a third of our wages to the taxes system, that seems a lot of money. But, those money are supposed to go to schools, healthcare, those who are too sick to be able to work, roads....many things that we basically need. If you get sick, you only pay a symbolic fee for your care at the hospital.

Our latest government will promote all of us that works hard and push people to work, even those who aren't able to do so. New rules in the social and healthcare system force cancer patients to go to work and refuse multi disabled people assistance with their basical needs.

The governments new budget for next year, gives us all who have a work a fifth discount on our taxes. That means it's the fifth time they will lower my tax wich will give me 40€ more every month. Those with very high wages will have their extra tax cut even more. So what does all those money mean for me? Well, nothing until I get sick, they say my childrens classes in school will be even bigger, or loose my job. Those extra money I will receive are taken from those who can't or don't have a job.

The attitude is that those who fails to get a job in time, or have diseases have to blame themselves. These are lazy, unhealthy people.
One arrogant lady said that "all those who complain, should give their money to funds and make a contribute by that way (if they get the extra money)". I asked her were the fund for workless, sick, and especially those who have been sick or without a job for too long that they have fallen out from the social security system are. Are those people supposed to be dependent on charity? Charity isn't granted just because you need it, right?

If they took off their soft lens glasses and looked how the world is. They would see that segregation breaks down countries.

Enough of this rant. I will join everyone else in voting for a new government next autumn, this one completely made fool of themselves. I will go and get my son at school now and keep on my studies and work.

  1. Oh, I must say your attitude is truly surprising; I bet most people would be on the arrogant lady's side not caring for the needy at all...

Out government says 'if you don't work, you ain't getting no scraps', so no healthcare, no retirement funds, no cost of living allowances for you and your family, you can basically go to hell...
If you don't have a job, you're not eligible for medical service unless you pay a quite high monthly fee but I'm asking how, if you don't have any income? Because you don't get any allowances if you haven't been working for at least 18 months consecutively before you became unemployed, which is actually one of the biggest problems in this country...

And then you have people like my mom, who say 'that's how it is, shut up and accept it'...No, thank you.

I'm sorry about the rant, I have a very soft sport for this topic myself. :)

    1. Well it is a bit like this here as well. If you never ever had a job in your life you can't get any money except social grant, wich is very little. I think the social wellfare is one of the things that had made Sweden successful, and the post war years.

  3. In Canada, the healthcare systems has its troubles... but I feel, for the population, it's about as perfect as it could get. When population increases, so do the troubles, especially on how to handle healthcare.

It is one of the reasons I feel the US is suffering such a disparity in their citizens. I have what you'd call the very best health insurance here-- federal grade. But during these health problems of mine, I could not believe how much I still have to pay out of pocket for a meager night stay at the hospital... I just can't imagine how much a person with lesser, or no insurance has to pay. It's just sickening.
Up in Canada, my two week stay at the hospital cost me nothing.

  4. Hm, I hear you. Here in Italy we all pay more than *a half* of our salary in taxes, but our healthcare system is just non-existant. And to think we all look up to northern european countries...!

    1. wow. Half your income?? I always heard that we have the highest taxes. One thing I've heard is that Italian administration is very slow and complicated, could that be one of the reasons for high taxes?

  5. I'm so sorry to hear this. I was always under the impression that countries like Sweden were the best models for just social welfare. I hope you get a new government soon. People shouldn't have their lives ruined because they are unlucky enough to get sick or lose their job through no fault of their own. :(

  6. Det suger verkligen, det finns ingen socialdemokrati kvar i Sverige (eller någon annastans) längre.

  8. Apparently everywhere is a hell. Of course not to mention my country's (Greece) system. They used to say, we take half of your income and we "save it" for you if you need it. And then you wish not to need those money.

I had always in mind that Sweden system is extremely high. We do know that Swedne have an amazing education and health system that many countries are jealous and even unable to have. But why all of a sudden they do that? I mean i don't know exactly your country's situation, all countries have economy problems but is really sudden and ridiculous.

May those problems fix soon dear. :)
