I need to cheer up!!

Sheez, I have clearly been absent in almost a month here. I have been busy with my studies and family issues. Im not in a very good mood right now. I miss my eldest son who refuse to come home and he refuses to even say hello. Im very sad about this. I have ransacked myself about the reasons but I can’t find anything specific.
When I saw the 100happydays challenge on facebook, I joined, because I really need to see the good things every day brings. In this way, I will be able to stand strong and keep going, taking care of everything else. Take a look at my Instagram for more happy days. This is also a great challenge for you bat fit girls. I definitely believe that to be able to break bad habits you need to feel good (or better) inside, to have the strength to do the changes you need.

Summer  has arrived and my garden need lots of tlc. My lazy spot has to wait.

Other fun things I’ve been doing is visiting my parents to greet my dad on his birthday. Their Chinese crested dog is busy watching over the hens, while the evil rooster is locked up in the hen house. He takes his job very serious.
We have been on a real redneck event. First release of cows after winter. It was fun to see those clumsy bodies frolic around in the green grass. They will now have a long lovely summer on the fields. The animal protection laws are perhaps the most strict in the world. The winter stable is therefore clean, huuge windows, fresh smelling and the cows are not tied up in the stable.

We bought a new grill. It was labelled Goth so this was an easy choice, it also works excellent J
Last but not least: I have finished my studies for the season, that means lots of sparetime to enjoy time outdoors.

Decreasing my carbon footprint

The strange weather phenomenas and the depressive reports about the worlds health has made me really concerned. I made a carbon footprint test that told me that living the way I do would demand more that two earths. I live 3 km from work, in the same direction is the youngest school. Every morning I drive us to school and work, I drive behind a nearly empty bus, what the f---k am I doing! So the adults had an internal family discussion about how we behave. Johan is driving in his thirsty car alone to town every day. Since we have a bus stop just around the corner of our house we actually should use the bus instead. We are lucky to have a frequent bus line were we live. My own birth town closed it down because no one used it.
So we bought us bus cards and started to use the bus instead. When there's no kids at home, I take the bicycle/walk/bus and with the kids, we take the bus. Johan needs the car when his kids are at home but otherwise, he takes the bus. It's definitely not cheaper for me but there's another benefit: Suddenly we realised that we are more relaxed when we arrive at work or home. Even if we have a time to catch, we have a rest at the bus (even if it's not a comfortable ride). So I might take that test again and hopefully I only need one earth...
So what are you doing to decrease your carbon footprint?

Yesterday was Valborg/Beltane/Walpurgis night. Snow blended rain wasn't very tempting even if a huge bonfire and a choir singing could warm our souls. We choosed to stay indoors and play a local Monopoly game.
Today is Labour day a day off. The snow is slowly melting away and the the water is dripping from the roofs. I bought a rain chain for my rain water bin at Indiska. I thought the splashing at the garage wall would decreased but it didn't. Well it looks nice anyway. You can see on this photo that the fir trees are gone.
Another photo of melting snow... I have already planted onions and my mother came by and planted potatoes for me.
Do you celebrate Valborg/Beltane/Walpurgis in some way? Do you celebrate Labour day?

A Gothic Easter

Oh I guess some of you have seen these easter decorations before but this cabinet in the photo below is new in our kitchen. Its a lavoar/potty cabinet. There is a lid on top were you can put a washing bowl and a cabinet for your water or potty. I will paint it on the inside before I put something in it I can assure you. I got it from free from a friend that bought an old farm. The cabinet was so filthy (found in one of the separate buildings) with some brown red splatter over it, EWW!! Common scrubbing didn't work but Svinto (soaped steelwool).
As my beloved is allergic to anything that sprouts has fur or feathers these twigs will do fine as easter sticks. The twigs were once used for spanking each other as a reminder of Jesus sufferings, weird tradition...But during the 17 hundreds the twigs were decorated, better tradition. These eggs are painted by me and Oskar long ago.

A little close up of the shabby shit cabinet and easter eggs.

So were do the Gothic comes in... Well here! Our black livingroom will have the gloomier decorations. Mossy twigs, gothic crosses and victorian styled eggs.

These decorations are made by me years ago. I store the eggs securely in boxes during rest of the year.

The decorations has an old Catolic style because I like that aestetic.

A mix of real and paper eggs under a glass dome with a two different crosses. Barely visible a crucifix at the tray and a vikin cross on the table.

I made this decoration long ago with scraps. The backround are a scrap piece from the wall paper in my former house. The little text means pastime.

Happy Gothic Easter!!

Coffe break at university

Regarding my last post. I hope you didn't think Im ridiculous, I only relate to myself. I have aged these last years visibly (and on the inside) and I have wrinkles that force me to change how I do my makeup. Make up can infact make you look much older if you do it wrong.

I made a post about old buildings in Falun a few weeks ago. This time I would like to show you our newest.  We got a new library at the University.  I'm usually not fond of modern things and I think the building is hideous on the outside, a yellow box wrapped in a steel fence. But the inside is wonderful. The main hall is built like a swirl down to the center bottom, all the shelves/walls,  floors and stairs turns in a downward spiral. White walls and ceiling windows make it so light it almost hurt the eyes (Swedes are very fond of white interiors). It was nice to sit by the bookshelves and having a coffee and an easter cupcake.

We will stay at home this weekend and I will take care of my seedlings and the garden. What are you up to this weekend? I Wishing you all a nice easter.

Make up on wrinkles

Those wrinkles refuse to stay away. Lots of moisturizer will not make them vanish from my dry skin and it's a hell to try to do a makeup. I rarely use makeup because I'm very lazy and I use to prickle myself in the eyes unaware of looking like a panda afterwards.

I tried to do a soft smokey makeup for a night in town. I didn't use eyeliner because it tends to get smudgy and only paint cat eyes if there is no wind outside. You can see on the photo below that I didn't use any highligher under the eyebrows. With age comes wrinkles and it's better to avoid glittery eyeshadows, they will only make you look even older ;). I also avoid using too much concealer (or none at all) under the eyes or dry powder wich only makes the skin even dryer.
Here's the palette I used. Smoky eyeshadows from H&M.
Ready for a movie night. We saw Captain America the Winter soldier. I loved it. Well I'm a big Marvel Movie fan and especially of the Captain. It had an interesting message, a vague critic against the mapping of peoples behaviour on the internet (helloo Google), wich of course Captain America disagree to "What happened to freedom?"

Bat fit and garden update + a cake and nailpolish

Bat fit update. So my weight raised a little during the autumn because of much sitting, both at work and studying at home. Even if I used calorie tracker I didn’t lost any weight. My metabolism must be very very low. So instead of counting calories I will try exercise a lot more than I have done the last years. If I do work out and gain muscles then the metabolism should become better. We have a gym at work and at the gym there is a cross trainer that I have been thinking of trying. So last week I started, first 15 minutes one lunch and then 20 minutes the others at least 3 days a week. I haven’t lost a single pound but I feel much more alert. The cross trainer is like a combination of bicycling, cross country skiing and running. It is very kind to the body but my broken knee was a bit swollen today. My goal is to be able to run again, because running was the recipe for staying in shape and keeping my mood up.
Other things that has been going on lately is sawing down the trees on the backyard. Fir spikes and shadow has been ruin part of my vegetable beds. All those twigs must be stacked in piles for transportation to a bonfire (will be lit on last night of April). This is also exersize J.
My mori fairy boy had his 10th birthday last week. He ordered a piñjata with candy and a fish cake for the birthday party. Johan also made magical tricks for him and the guests. This is how the fish cake turned out. The boys helped me to do marcipan figures to decorate it.

I coloured some marcipan blu and made the cover of the cake, well done to be the first time I think.
You know the flaky nailpolish I reviewed? They have a lovely nail polish line called Velvet goth. How awesome isn't that?? Here's the link to the site Models Own. The colours are told to be matte but with sparkly flakes in the colours, Obsidian, Amethyst, Valerian, Sardonyx and Absinthe. I was supposed to order a couple but when I came to the cashout the delivery fees were more expensive than the purchase. So you guys who live in UK are lucky, those colours looks definitely something I would like to paint my nails in.

Pointy toes

I put on a green skirt today, it's actually a sundress that is folded down to a skirt. I feel like the Wicked witch of the west with the green and the pointy toes. The shoes are a recent second hand bargain.

Have a nice weekend!!
